“Saw Gotye last night! Radio City Music hall! What a show. Definitely an underrated band and album. Go Gotye. . .Go.” – John Siravo
Gotye @ Radio City
Australian singer Gotye brought his North American tour to Radio City on Tuesday night (9/25) with fellow Aussies Missy Higgins and Jonti, for what was Gotye’s first of two NYC shows. The second NYC show on his tour is TONIGHT (9/27) at Williamsburg Park with Zammuto and GIVERS. Tickets for tonight’s show are still available.
After her opening set at Tuesday night’s show, Missy Higgins joined Gotye on stage to sing the duet vocals on “Somebody That I Used to Know,” which are performed by Kimbra on the album. Not too surprisingly, that was the only song that the crowd lost their shit during, but Gotye remained intent on delivering a fully worked out set, not focused solely on that one song (and for the record, he didn’t even end with it). Gotye and his four-piece backing band had various arrangements worked out for each song in the set, which included almost the entirety of Making Mirrors in addition to material off of his two previous full lengths, which still have not been released in the US. And to complement their sound, the band was backed by large screen animated videos.
